Dear Trainee,
Thank you for your enquiry about our SCITT (School Centred Initial
Teacher Training) PGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
in Primary Training.
We do not expect our website to answer each and every question
you may have but we do pride ourselves on our friendly approach,
so, if you do have any queries, please do give us a call.

The Cumbria Primary Teacher Training Course is an innovative school
based one-year course set up by a consortium of schools in the Western
Lakes and the Solway Coast who were anxious to contribute towards
Initial Teacher Training but were geographically isolated from existing
Colleges. Because of this reason, all the schools involved in this
teacher training course are highly committed and want to contribute
their experience to the next generation of teachers. The Course
is highly classroom orientated and features close collaboration
between skilled experienced classroom teachers and college tutors.
This
course offers trainees opportunities to become involved in the life
of primary schools. Close ties with partnership schools will allow
you to develop a strong professional bond with the teachers and
pupils in school, rather than being seen as a 'college trainee'
on teaching practice. This involvement in everyday school life will
provide a greater insight into the role of a teacher than that afforded
by a conventional course of initial teacher training.
We require very special trainees to take part in this course,
those who have a high level of commitment and want to join a team
of teachers in the workplace. You will gain from a greater classroom
experience than other trainees in Higher Education Institutions,
and this should prove advantageous to you when seeking your first
teaching post.
Interested?
Then read on - and if there are any further questions please ring
the CPTT Centre on 01900 325060, and we will be delighted to talk
to you.
